busy boy

Our little guy is 14 1/2 months and is all boy. He loves to "dink around" with everything he shouldn't- remotes, phones, cords, outlets- and make messes. I pick up toys, cups and plates and spoons from "Liam's" drawer, and books at least 16 times a day. Liam definitely has a lot of energy. Check out this cute video:

Hay Wedding Day
Troon, Scotland (May 9-16)

Liam's first flight was surprisingly pretty easy. He didn't get too agitated by having to sit in his car seat for 8 hours at a time. The on-demand videos were a huge help. He loved to watch Nemo, even though there wasn't any sound (ever try to put headphones on a 1 year old?). We had a great time, but a vacation with a toddler is definitely not as relaxing as we are used to. Nana, Grandpa and Sharon were all great helpers.

We packed a lot of fun into the short time we were there. We spent an afternoon in Troon checking out the shops and the park near the beach. Niall and Emily arranged a day trip by bus to Edinburgh where we toured the Royal Yacht Britannia, had lunch at the City Chambers, and visited Edinburgh Castle.

Nana, Sharon and I took the ferry to the Isle of Arran while Phil, Dan and the guys played golf.

The wedding was absolutely fabulous. Emily was gorgeous, the food was delicious and the dance was a blast.

Thankfully Liam is a good little traveler as we hope to take many more fun trips with him in the future.

Dear Sweet Baby Liam,

We spent your first birthday recovering resting from your first trans-Atlantic trip to Scotland (more on that later). Your party was a few weeks ago, but daddy and I talked a lot about how far you (and we) have come since you arrived at 1:13am on May 17, 2008.
Then:
7 lb. 2 oz.,20 inches
Now:
20 1/4 lbs., 32 3/4 inches

According to the charts, you are long and lean (95th percentile for height, 15-25th for weight). Your pants size is 12-18 months and lenthwise are perfect, however they are constantly falling off as you crawl around after your toys or the dogs. Thank God for Gap adjustable waist pants and shorts!!!

You have 8 teeth, and a few more are coming in. You love turkey, hot dogs, cheese, pasta, most fruit, frozen mixed veggies, broccoli, grilled cheese sandwiches, crackers and cookies. You hate chicken, beef, pork, avocados, carrots, and watermelon (what kid doesn't like watermelon?). Last week you liked scrambled eggs. This week you don't.

You have decided you dislike being restrained, whether it's in your car seat, stroller, my lap, and sometimes even your booster chair. You scream and arch your back to avoid being buckled in. You would rather be free to explore every inch of the space you are in. Nothing gets left unturned when you are in a room.

You love to sing and dance with mommy and to be chased around the house by daddy. You love to swing at the park and watch the big kids play. You are very social and love attention, which you gladly repay with a great big Liam smile.

You can say a few words: mama, dada, nana, uh-oh (this is BY FAR your favorite) but most often you point and scream at what you want. You wave bye-bye, give high fives and know how to do "so big" and play peek-a-boo. You are so close to walking and have discovered how to go up (but not down) stairs. You despise wearing your right shoe.

You are a good sleeper (for this I am thankful) because Little Buddy, you wear me out! In a good way, of course.

Always, always, always remember how much your Daddy and I love you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to us. We look forward to watching you grow and develop, but for now I am happy to still snuggle, cuddle, and kiss my Sweet Baby Liam

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
