a trip to DL

Last weekend we finally made it up to Detroit Lakes to visit Grandpa John and introduce Liam to his great grandparents and aunties. He was a good boy the entire way up...finally needed a diaper change in New York Mills, only a half hour from our destination. It was a relaxing weekend (without the doggies). Here are a few pics:

father's day

We spent Phil's first Father's Day in Rochester. He played in a three day golf tournament with his dad, which is now becoming a yearly tradition for them. Liam and I bought Phil a new lob wedge and golf shirt especially for the tournament, which brought them a little luck. Phil and Dan won their flight (and bragging rights). Sandy and I decided to venture out in a cart with Liam to watch the last few holes. Yes, I know, taking a newborn out on the golf course is a bit risky, but he didn't make a peep! Four weeks old and he already knows to be quiet on the course. Perhaps he'll be the next Tiger- ha!

Daddy is so in love with our little guy!

poopy chaos

Sunday night Phil and I took Liam to Pittsburgh Blue, a new restaurant in Maple Grove. We were very excited- it was opened by the same restaurant group that owns Manny's, our favorite steak joint in Minneapolis. We had a great meal, great wine, and Liam was an absolute angel. He slept the entire time. What a wonderful end to a nice weekend. Until we got home. And opened the door to find the remnants of three dirty diapers scattered all over the kitchen. Oops, I forgot to take out the trash and Hank finally got an opportunity to get at them...

Phil said he would clean it up while I changed our little angel. He was a bit stinky. And with good reason. He had poop all over his outfit and up his back. So bath time it is. He was going to get one on Monday anyway. I trekked upstairs to get his towel and a wash cloth and was greeted to another nice surprise. Dog poop...

There was a trail of it, through the hallway and into the office. Obviously the diapers Hank got into made him sick. A few months ago, all of this would have set me off on a tangent and I would have threatened to send Hank to the Humane Society (no, I would not have followed through, but he doesn't know that). Instead, Phil and I just looked at each other and laughed. An hour later, things were calm again. Stinky baby was now clean and smelled like a baby should, and the dogs were fed and sleeping. I guess this is our new normal. Good thing we can laugh about it!!!

a quick trip to the mall

Today I decided Liam and I should venture to Southdale for a bit. I haven't been out by myself or driven alone with him since Phil just went back to work on Monday. So I got up, fed Liam, changed a couple of diapers and decided to shower while he was napping in his bassinet. I had the monitor with me and not even two minutes in, he started crying. Figures. Quickly I finished up and went to feed him again. He seemed content so I decided to try and put a little makeup on and at least brush my hair. The minute I put him in his chair in the bathroom, he started screaming. We've learned that he loves the sound of the hairdryer, so I turned it on and he miraculously stopped fussing. Whew, a few minutes to make myself look presentable. While I was packing his diaper bag, I smelled that he needed a diaper change. Sure enough, his pants were full...and it was all over his back and clothes. To the bath we go. Another first for me, Liam's first bath without Phil. He absolutely HATES to be naked, let alone wet, so it was a quick one. Finally I thought we were ready to go. But he was hungry again. After a half hour, I put him in the car seat, loaded up the stroller and off we went. He was a good boy the entire time we were at the mall. I bought a few things for me and a lot of things for him (dangerous for a new mommy to have a Gap discount!!). All in all, it went well. It only took 2 1/2 hours to get ready for a one hour shopping trip but I did it all by myself:)
